In September, Feathered Follies was burglarized and two of their exotic birds, Tofu and Plato, were stolen. Concord police put out an APB for the birds and after months of extensive searching and collaboration with several agencies, both birds were found alive and well and returned. The two suspects are identified; one is in jail.

During those months, the community rallied to support Feathered Follies’ loss by making donations for reward money. So much so, it led to the creation of a new non-profit, the Feathered Follies Foundation, whose mission focuses on education, conservation, and rescue/rehabilitation of birds. For those who love birds and animals in general can now get hands-on learning experience as volunteers. In fact, the Feathered Follies Foundation is currently looking for volunteers this summer. It’s funny how something so devious has led to something very so altruistic.
