Memorial Day Weekend, May 27-29, in Concord

The 32nd edition of Bay Area KidFest, one of the Bay Area’s longest-running family events, is on the May 27-29 Memorial Day Weekend featuring three days of jam-packed entertainment and attractions, activities, food, KidFest Marketplace, rides and fun in Downtown Concord.

Kidfest is an outdoor festival featuring free non-stop entertainment on the Main Stage plus meet and greets in the Stanford Medicine Children’s Health KidFest Marketplace Pavilion with children’s literature superstars Pete the Cat and Llama Llama.

Sea Lion Splash

America’s only traveling sea lion show, Sea Lion Splash, has three performances a day with tanks remaining open all day to view and learn about these aquatic mammals.

The Silver Starlets, an all-female aerial acrobatic show from Canada, and Python Ron’s Reptile Kingdom both have three shows each day. Attendees can explore another popular KidFest attraction, Kid’s Town America all day.

There are dozens of other free kid’s activities including balloon hats and animals, spin art, keepsake handprints, slides, crawls, kiddie golf, soccer and much more included in the low admission price. 

Choose among a dozen or more food options fro two eclectic Food Courts . Enjoy the arts and crafts and exhibitors in the KidFest Marketplace.

Be sure to attend a special Memorial Day ceremony at noon, Monday, May 29, with the 20-time World Champion Concord Blue Devils C Drum and Bugle Corps performing their 2023 show “BD C-fair,” plus the Mt. Diablo High School Jr. ROTC color guard and music honoring America’s service people past and present. 

Admission tickets, ride wristbands and ride tickets go on sale each day at KidFest starting at 9:45 a.m. Admission is just $8 with a donation of canned food to the Monument Crisis Center or $9 without a can donation. KidFest attendees have donated over 130,000 pounds of food over the past 25 years.

Saturday, May 27, is Double Can Day. A person donating two canned goods this day gets $2 off their admission. A family of four bringing eight cans will save a total of $8 off their admission ticket purchase. The first 500 families through the gates of KidFest receive a free Goody Bag compliments of Stanford Medicine Children’s Health. Children under 24 months and seniors 65+ get free admission.

KidFest offers an all-day, all-rides wristband to be used on 20 thrilling rides for kids of all ages, including Waterballerz, Dragon Wagon roller coaster, Euro Bungy Jump, Ferris wheel, giant slide, petting zoo, pony rides, Stars ‘n Stripes train, jeeps, bumper cars and more. All-day ride wristbands are $39 and are sold in the KidFest grounds or alternative discount ride ticket packages will be on sale all day.

Since 2010, Bay Area KidFest have provided nearly $100,000 from proceeds to benefit local educational, health and sports groups.

KidFest is open 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, and 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Memorial Day (Monday) at Mt. Diablo High School, 2450 Grant St. in downtown Concord just off Highway 242.

On-site vehicle parking is $9 with plenty of free street parking around the site available.
