Effective June 23, 2025, Jeremy Crone has been hired by the City of Clayton. He brings 20 years of law enforcement experience to lead the Clayton Police Department, the City announced on June 10.
Chief Crone has dedicated his career to public safety, having previously served in various significant roles at the City of Pinole and the City of Suisun City. Most recently, he held the position of Commander in the City of Pinole, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership skills and a commitment to community engagement.
“I am honored to serve as the Police Chief of the City of Clayton,” said Chief Crone. “I look forward to building strong relationships within our community and fostering a collaborative environment to ensure the safety and well-being of all residents.”
Chief Crone holds degrees from Northwestern University, American Public University and his POST certification from the Napa Police Academy, as well as various other qualifications, awards, and notable achievements that further highlight his commitment to excellence in law enforcement.

A swearing-in ceremony will be held on June 17th at the City Council meeting held at the Community Library, Hoyer Hall, Clayton to introduce Chief Crone to the community.
