Concord’s Music-Filled Summer

The sound of music can be heard throughout the city of Concord. The warmer months promise a special seasonal bounty of tuneful listening, as bands take to the stage at popular venues, providing open-air concerts that are family-friendly and offer a supremely vibrant music scene.

The 50th Anniversary Concord Jazz Festival on Saturday, August 3 is this year’s highlight coming to the Concord Pavilion. The lineup features such well-known acts as Dave Koz, The Legendary Count Basie Orchestra, Chick Corea, Poncho Sanchez, Esperanza Spalding, Patti Austin, and Jamison Ross.
There are numerous exceptional acts coming to Concord Pavilion throughout the summer. Florence and the Machine, Bush, Elvis Costello and the Imposters with Blondie, Lynard Skynard, Sheila E., Breaking Benjamin, Peter Frampton, Steve Miller are some of the concerts to look forward to this summer.
Thursday night live music returns to Todos Santos Plaza for the 31st Annual Music & Market Series May 30 to September 26, from 6:30 p.m.-8p.m. The 2019 series offers a diverse live music experience featuring local bands from all over the Bay Area. Grab your lawn chairs and blankets for this free, fun, family-friendly musical series. Here are some tips to make your experience amazing.
There is plenty of parking within easy walking distance, including two free city garages: Todos Santos Parking Center: Concord Avenue between Salvio and Pacheco Streets. Grant Street Garage: Salvio Street, between Grant and Colfax Streets. Get to Todos Santos Plaza Early: Get to the plaza early to enjoy a variety of restaurants and local food vendors offering delicious cuisine from around the globe.
Alcohol is not allowed in the park, but you can grab a craft beer, wine or other alcoholic drinks at one of several surrounding establishments before or after the concert.
It’s okay to bring your kids. This is a family-friendly event. The plaza’s playground and large grassy area will keep kids entertained, playing and dancing to their delight.
A definite can’t miss this year is the 3-night salute to Woodstock’s 50th Anniversary — Thursday, August 15 through Saturday, August 17 — featuring Santana, Jefferson Airplane and Jimi Hendrix Tribute.
Blues lovers unite every Tuesday night in July at Todos Santos Plaza. On stage this year are Roy Rogers and The Delta Rhythm Kings, Frankie G and the Conviction, Delta Wires, The Dylan Black Project and rounding out the month is Ms. Taylor P Collins.
