Cal State East Bay (CSUEB) campus is gaining notoriety in the East Bay and across the US.  The Princeton Review (2019) recently named the university as a “Best in the West” college and a “Best Business School”.

Inside the Department of Communications, the CSUEB Chapter of Public Relations Student Society of America, (PRSSA) are competing in a national public relations contest against approximately 300 other collegiate chapters across the US.  The Bateman Case Study National Competition has selected their client PRSA Foundation (Public Relations Society of America) whose focus this year is on supporting programs that attract, assist and prepare young multicultural adults to enter the public relations profession and other fields of communications.

The PRSSA team contestants were challenged to research, plan, implement and evaluate a comprehensive public relations campaign to support and promote the sale of the book Diverse Voices: Profiles in Leadership.

With CSUEB already having a valued reputation of diversity within the Department of Communications, the team intuitively utilized its EASTBAY LIVE. This is the campus college internet radio station on the Mixlr App masterminded by acclaimed journalist, media consultant, and “Flashpoint” senior producer, Professor Kevin Pina. The student run programming covers the gamut from entertainment to investigative journalism giving diverse voices in communications.  This gave them the preferred platform to announce the Bateman competition to all its listeners.

The contest challenged these pre-professionals to explore serious work place issues such as diversity and inclusion. While the winner has yet to be chosen, this campaign has enlightened the students with recognition, personal growth and leadership skills.

Building a winning culture with voices rising from Cal State East Bay, the students engaged a strong multi-media platform.
