Ruby Dooby Doo to the Rescue

Each month a hard to place dog in foster care will be featured to give them extra exposure to find their forever home.

Eight-year-old Shawn and his 2-year-old son, Kyle, are this month’s “pawsitively special dawgs.” Dachshund/Beagle/Chi mixes, this bonded duo will need to be placed in the same home. Shawn (white stripe in photo) and Kyle (the Shyles) had been part of a backyard breeding operation and were badly neglected. Both were terrified of almost everything. Kyle required surgery to fix his leg and both needed teeth extractions. It’s been many months now since they were rescued and while they are still scared of new people and of the big world, both are now happy, healthy boys. They LOVE to play with each other as well as toys. These entertaining mischief-makers and are now both pretty good on leash and navigate stairs. Both are huge cuddle-bug, lap lovers. Shawn (12-lbs) is good with all dogs while Kyle (10 lbs) can be a little protective of his dad. We recommend a mellow, adult home with no kids or cats. Ideally, their new family will have experience with fearful dogs. They are fine home alone. An adjustment period will be needed, but, they will thrive with understanding and patience.
