Diablo Women’s Chorale Presents “Winter Peace” Concert

The Diablo Women’s Chorale invites you to join them at their Fall Concert “Winter Peace,” on Sunday, December 2.  Showtime is 3:00 p.m. at Temple Isaiah, 945 Risa Road, in Lafayette.

Drawing on a variety of musical genres and eras we bring you songs from John Legend, Enya, Hoagy Carmichael, Rogers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, Sara Bareilles, and others – all selected to warm the heart, lift the spirit, and soothe the soul.

Music Director Lisa Forkish is an Oakland-based vocalist, composer, arranger, and music educator. Forkish studied at the Berklee College of Music in Boston and served four years as music director for the University of Oregon’s a cappella group, Divisi, featured in the best-selling book Pitch Perfect, later made into the hit film of the same name. She is part of the vocal music faculty at Oakland School for the Arts and the director of Vocal Rush, OSA’s award-winning a cappella ensemble. Lisa is also a founder of the Women’s A Cappella Association. Forkish began directing DWC in the spring of 2017.

Accompanist Amy Levine is a pianist, teacher, and songwriter. She studied music at San Francisco State University. After graduation, she performed in the Bay Area with many well-known groups, and she continues entertaining to this day in diverse genres such as jazz, Latin, classical, R&B, funk, rock, and pop. Levine found her niche teaching piano and loves helping others reach their music goals. She has been the DWC accompanist since the fall of 2018.

The Diablo Women’s Chorale has been entertaining local audiences since 1943 and presents public concerts in December and May each year.  Their members include women from all areas of the San Francisco East Bay who share a passion for music and a gratifying sense of community and fun.
