Win $300 or a Year of Beer!

Three consecutive Oktoberfest weekends make for an interesting October: Clayton Oktoberfest on October 5-6, Concord Oktoberfest 11-12, and Walnut Creek’s Oktoberfest on October 19.
Diablo Gazette will have a booth at Concord Oktoberfest and we are bent on contributing as much fun to this 9-hour, two-day party as a magazine can muster.

Last year, CSK Photography helped create mini-magazine covers. Many Oktoberfesters just came by our German backdrop and took selfies.
Two lucky winners, one prize was a $300 gift certificate to Alpine Pastry, the won other prizes in our Chisel-It Ice Stein Sculpture contest. With the help of the folks at Alpine Pastry and Chisel-It Ice, we will do it all again.

Come by our booth, we have plenty for you to enjoy.

Diablo Gazette Booth Activities:
Start by picking up your free copy of October’s Diablo Gazette. You can never have too many. Then meet some of our regular contributors too.
Friday: 6pm- 9pm.
Book Signing: “Between Shadow’s Eyes”. Novelist Jill Hedgecock and bookcover model and Instagram celebrity, Ruby Dooby Do, will be on hand signing purchased books and photos. Yes, Ruby will sign too.
Jill’s first novel, “Rhino in the Room” will also be available at the booth.

Photo Booth: Use our scenic backdrop of Germany and take free selfies. Or grab a photo with one of our crack celebs. Author Jill Hedgecock, Ruby Dooby Do, or you can get naked with the Naked Gardener in scenic Germany. Now that’s a photo to share. (Don’t worry, we have Naked t-shirts for this. This is Diablo Gazette, not “Naked and Afraid”.)
Saturday 2pm-8pm

Meet Richard Eber – 2pm-6pm “Out to Lunch” restaurant reviewer. Richard says to bring him your Oktoberfest purchased food and he will have a bite and review it for you.

There are entry forms at our booth. We will be accepting entries for the cake contest all weekend. You may clip the entry forms on page 13 of the October Diablo Gazette , print out the one below and drop it off at our well-decorated booth for additional chances to win. Winner will receive a $300 gift certificate to Alpine Pastry.

The folks at renowned Chisel-It Ice of Concord will have another ice sculpture. Guess the time that it will completely melt or fall off its base and win a year’s supply of Beer (root beer). We’re not sure what they will carve this year but come by our booth to see it, then make your melting guess. The entry who comes the closest to guessing the exact time of its collapse will win. Ties will be decided by random drawing. In the event of a disqualifying event, such as an accident, winner will be determined by a random drawing.

Meet David George, aka Naked Gardener. 4P-6P David is there to discuss gardening tips, but he’s more interested in Naked photography with you Oktoberfesters. He thinks the American Gothic needs a reboot.
Naked T-shirts and pitchfork props will be available. There could be some interesting Oktoberfest photos this year.
