aRT Cottage

Members from the Concord Art Association, Las Juntas/East Bay Artist Guild, and the aRt Cottage have been active in attending Concord’s city council meetings advocating
for an art and cultural center. A city with art is always a good thing. Concord has become a most welcome place for artists and art lovers. aRt Cottage sponsors and promotes local artists with new monthly exhibits free for anyone to enjoy at 2238 Mt. Diablo St. Hours are Tuesday through Friday from 11am-5 p.m. and Saturday 1pm-5pm. The current exhibit, “All Creatures Great and
Small” has been a pleasant surprise.
Six aRt Cottage students had entered the Contra Costa Water District’s 2019 calendar contest and all were chosen finalists to be published in next year’s calendar. Each will be also awarded a fifty dollar certificate at an art supply store. Their original work will be returned to them in a framed format.
Classes for all ages are available on a private and semi-private level in a variety of disciplines, including watercolor, acrylic, pastel, sewing, ceramics, and mixed media, to name a few. You can learn more about classes on their website at www.artcottage.info.
By the way, if you attended Concord’s Fourth of July parade, you may have noticed the aRt Cottage car entry created by the aRt Cottage students. If not, you will see it around town. It will be around for a while and you can’t miss it.
